BWA HUMAN RIGHT ISSUE

The BWA received reports of churches and mosques in Jakarta , Indonesia being razed to the ground and many people losing their lives.

In 2001, a BWA human rights visit was undertaken to Jakarta to which came leaders from all the Baptist conventions in that country. Denton Lotz, Bonny Resu and Tony Cupit conducted a meeting with the Baptist leaders on human rights issues and met with both the Roman Catholic Archbishop and with leaders from the NU, the largest Islamic political party in Indonesia
