West Papua – an opportunity for David Cameron to create his foreign policy legacy & bring peace and justice to the region at last

This week David Cameron became the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. He is the most high profile world leader who has raised concerns about the situation in West Papua, describing the ongoing Indonesian occupation as ‘terrible’. The remarks were made in a recent interview published in the Daily Telegraph newspaper.

For over 45 years the people of West Papua have suffered under a murderous Indonesian occupation. On behalf of all West Papuans, we call on the British Government to intervene and help bring about the means by which we can exercise our right to self-determination. West Papua can be David Cameron’s foreign policy legacy. Our struggle for freedom will never stop.
