Plight of Religious Minorities and Papua Abuses Are Serious, Ongoing Problems
(New York) – The visit of United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Navanethem Pillay is an opportunity to highlight concerns about discrimination against religious minorities and impunity for state security forces in Indonesia, Human Rights Watch said today. Pillay is on an official visit to Jakarta from November 12-13, 2012.
We hope the visit of High Commissioner Pillay will spotlight the country’s most serious human rights challenges. Indonesia should realize that religious discrimination, impunity, and the deterioration in rule of law is a recipe for violence, abuses, and lawlessness.
"Brad Adams, Asia director".

“We hope the visit of High Commissioner Pillay will spotlight the country’s most serious human rights challenges,” said Brad Adams, Asia director at Human Rights Watch. “Indonesia should realize that religious discrimination, impunity, and the deterioration in rule of law is a recipe for violence, abuses, and lawlessness.”
